DC24: Renewable energy integration, modern power systems.
Andrew is a doctoral researcher and MSCA Fellow in DREAM+PLAN, Employed at Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya (UPC), Barcelona, Spain & Co-enrolled at RMIT University in a Double Degree Position.

Andrew's Story
Andrew is an Electrical Engineer specialising in power system analysis and control. Currently a Marie
SkÅ‚odowska-Curie Fellow and DREAM+PLAN Doctoral Candidate at Universitat Politècnica de
Catalunya and RMIT University, where his research focuses on renewable energy integration and the
future power system.
Before commencing his PhD, Andrew worked at the Australian Energy Market Operator (AEMO) in power
system operations as a Congestion and Grid Modelling Engineer, developing constraint equations and
limits for transient and voltage stability, and thermal management across Australia's east-coast
interconnected transmission network, the National Electricity Market (NEM).
Prior to this, Andrew founded a company delivering energy management, SCADA, and control system
projects to clients across Australia. He holds a Master of Engineering and a Bachelor of Engineering
(Honours), both in Electrical Engineering from RMIT University. He is a Registered Engineer (NER),
Member of Engineers Australia (MIEAust) and the IEEE (MIEEE).
The goal of Andrew's research is to advance the stability and controllability of the future power system —
one dominated by power-electronics-interfaced renewable energy sources. Through converter control
design, small-signal stability analysis, and aggregated resource modelling, this work investigates how
inverter-based resources can collectively support power system security, enabling higher levels of
renewable penetration.
Andrew is excited to contribute to the DREAM+PLAN community's mission of building a sustainable
energy future, collaborating with researchers and industry across Europe and Australia.
