John Warren's Story
John is an urban innovation professional with experience in supporting cities and regions with innovative initiatives for smart and sustainable development.
His prior experience in public R&D in the Philippines allowed him to have a multifaceted understanding of regional innovation systems, enabling him to support cities and regions navigating the twin (digital and green) transition. He has previously worked in both the development and research sector with UNDP, Fraunhofer Institute, BABLE Smart Cities, and a USAID-funded project in the Philippines.
He holds Joint Master’s Degree in Transition, Innovation, and Sustainability Environments (TISE) from four European universities and a BSc in Development communication from the University of the Philippines Los Baños.

Within the DREAM+PLAN Project, John is most excited about the opportunity to learn from the network of partner institutions throughout Europe and Australia. It is not only about gaining access to ‘world-class expertise’, but more about being part of a diverse community where he can exchange ideas, experience different perspectives, and grow both as a researcher and as a person.
