Lan Liu

Lan Liu, holds a Master’s degree in Financial Mathematics from the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology, with expertise in quantitative analysis, machine learning, and financial modeling. Her research interests lie at the intersection of blockchain technology, sustainable business models, and the circular economy.

 

Over the past few years, Lan Liu has worked on projects ranging from stock price prediction using ARIMA, RNN, and LSTM models to reinforcement learning applications in financial markets, equipping her with strong skills in handling large datasets, building predictive models, and developing incentive mechanisms. Her professional experience at Agricultural Bank of China Life Insurance deepened her understanding of incentive systems and stakeholder alignment.

 

On a personal level, Lan Liu is a strong advocate for sustainability and actively participate in second-hand marketplaces. She believes in the power of digital solutions to reduce waste, promote reuse, and optimize resource efficiency. Her PhD research under the DREAM+PLAN program will explore how Data-as-a-Service (DaaS) and blockchain-enabled token systems can transform second-hand business models, creating transparent, data-driven, and collaborative circular economies. This project aligns perfectly with her aspiration to become a leading researcher in sustainable digital finance, bridging academia and industry to implement scalable solutions. By combining academic rigor with practical industry engagement, Lan Liu aims to deliver impactful research that contributes to environmental stewardship and economic resilience.

 

Outside of research, Lan Liu an extrovert who loves connecting with people, trying new sports, and challenging herself physically. She completed a half marathon last year and recently taken up rock climbing and stand-up paddleboarding. She is also passionate about strength training, nature exploration, meditation, and inner self-discovery. Lan Liu enjoys lying on the grass to recharge and spending time with her dog, Siri, who often joins her on outdoor adventures.
