Muhammad's Story

Muhammad Ghazanfar Abdullah (M. Ghazanfar A.) is a sustainability-driven researcher with a multidisciplinary background spanning civil engineering, transportation systems, and geo-informatics. He holds an Erasmus Mundus Master’s in Geo-Informatics, where his thesis explored the capabilities of generative AI and its potential for advancing environmental decision-making, alongside practical applications of AI and ML in Earth observation and UAV technologies.

With prior studies in transportation engineering at Southeast University, China, and civil engineering at NUST, Pakistan, he has consistently focused on sustainable design and smart urban solutions for complex mobility and energy challenges. His professional journey includes roles in sustainability-focused IT product management and corporate ESG innovation at Borealis AG, where he developed carbon footprint tools, lifecycle assessment integration, and automated data systems to support compliance with EU sustainability frameworks.

Beyond academia and industry, Ghazanfar is an active mentor and volunteer, contributing to youth development, environmental awareness, and international collaborations such as the Earth Prize, WWF, and the GeoMundus Conference.

At LUT and RMIT University, Ghazanfar aims to leverage digital innovation to enhance regenerative capabilities in the energy sector, contributing to breakthrough pathways that combine resilience, restoration, and sustainable growth.
